Lima travel guide

Published on 25 June, 2015 On News

Lima is an alluring city- it’s not very evidently glamorous or interesting, but it has a distinctive vibe to it that can’t be missed. The weather is warm right round the year. However, the dry season that starts in June and stretches to August sees a lot of tourist traffic. If   hiking on the Inca Trail is not your thing, you can visit Lima at any time of the year. The best way to enjoy this city is to put up at one of the best boutique hotels in lima – the Royal Park Hotel.

Boutique Hotel in Lima

It has deluxe, executive twin, executive suites and a number of royal suites. It has a very stylish and luxurious atmosphere with sophisticated décor. The on-site restaurant “Le Moliere” & the “Bar & Lounge” offer a wide selection of gourmet Peruvian fusion-cuisine as well as a number of  local specialties. You can also enjoy fresh homemade breads and fine pastries. It’s interesting to note that a number of corporates choose this boutique hotel Lima for their meetings and events.  When you live at a luxury hotel like this, it helps you enjoy the city in a very distinctive way.

Getting To the City

Today, Lima is a large & sprawling city and difficult to contain on only a single map. The downtown areas have a very old world feel even though a large percentage of the colonial structures that stood there have now been demolished. Some fine examples such as the Palacio Torre Tagle or the La Catedral (which was recently restored), still stand tall. Near this is the massive and elaborate grey edifice- the Presidential palace which has been a silent witness to the county’s violent and uncertainty-filled history.

Some Places of Importance

The Plaza San Martín was once a thriving financial center; it has retained its beautiful, original architecture. Most of the buildings here have managed to maintain their contours over a number of generations. Right through the 1980’s when the Shining Path terrorist activity was at its peak, a number of businesses that were housed here, moved to much safer places, away from the old city center.

In the vicinity is the Museo de Arte that has a stunning Peruvian art collection with a number of pieces from the Chavin, Mochica and Paracas cultures. When you stay at the centrally-located Royal Park Hotel, you can conveniently access all these historical places and more. For bookings at our  Boutique hotel Lima, call us on (+51-1) 215 1616.
